Historical Photos on the Flickr Commons

Did you know that historical photos from the archives at the FDR Library are now part of the Commons on Flickr? The National Archives joins the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, and many other cultural heritage institutions in bringing publicly-held photograph collections to Flickr, where we encourage you to share your knowledge, insights, and experiences by adding tags, notes, and comments.

Here’s a great example of an FDR Library photo that’s part of the National Archives’ Women in World War II set:

Original Caption:  “Part of the cowling for one of the motors for a B-25 bomber is assembled in the engine department of North American’s Inglewood, Calif. plant., 10/1942”

From: Series: Franklin D. Roosevelt Library Public Domain Photographs, compiled 1882 – 1962
